Lee Kay-Barry

Kay-Barry’s paintings present an entangled relationship between performer and spectator. There is a theatrical element to his paintings which strive to capture a tender moment of physical connection through complex compositions and rich narratives.

The painting is inspired by Eadweard Muybridge: Studies in Motion. The painting represents two bodies entwined with each other. Two sides at conflict. The fiery orange background can be viewed as the carnage of war but also can portray a rising sun in hope of change and a force of positivity. Perhaps with a new dawn the entwined figures could be embracing one another.
